Unit 484 Auxiliary Meetings

Auxiliary Unit 484 meets once a month, on the 1st Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. (no meeting in July). We encourage all members to join our meetings and become active in the events we sponsor.

Things We Do

Our Auxiliary not only supports our Veterans, but we also are big supporters of the community. Below are just a few of them. There are so many other things we do and hope you will join our team!

Steak Fry’s

During the fall/winter months (Oct-Mar), we host a Steak Fry/Grilled Chicken event at our Post. Our team is made up of all Auxiliary members and this is one of our biggest fund-raisers. We have a great time at these events and are always looking for help from our members!

Poppy Days

Each year, our Unit supports the annual Poppy Program. We hold our Poppy Days the weekend before Memorial Day. Most of our volunteers are Auxiliary members; however, we sometimes get help from our Legion and Sons members. The money raised from Poppy Days goes into a special account and is used solely for our Veterans.

Memorial Day Parade

The Annual Hickory Corners Memorial Day Parade is a big event for our small community. Our Post works closely with the Hickory Corners Fire Department in sponsoring the Parade. Our Auxiliary has a banner and marches each year in the Parade. Following the Parade, we hold memorial services for our fallen comrades at the local cemetery. Following the services, there is a dinner at the Post which is open to the public. The Battle Creek VA normally brings a bus of Veterans to both watch the Parade and also join everyone afterwards for a meal at the Post.

Battle Creek VA

We support our Veterans in a couple of different ways. First, we are one of the hosts for the monthly Bingo that takes place at the VA. We provide refreshments and Bingo prizes for the Veterans. This is a fun event and the Veterans truly appreciate our efforts. Second, we also host a group of Veterans at our Post for a hot meal, followed by Bingo and then dessert. This event is held quarterly and again, is another event that is a lot of fun and the Veterans love it.

Girls State

Each year, we solicit for interested Juniors to participate in both the Girls State and Boys State programs. We work in conjunction with the Legion. We focus on two local high schools and try to sponsor at least 2-6 students each year.
